Love, Resilience, and a Little Mirena: The Mendirattas’ Tale of Hope

Pune: In the heart of Pune, the love story of Sanjeevani and Nikhil unfolded against the backdrop of a unique challenge.

Eight years into their marriage, the couple’s dream of parenthood remained unfulfilled. The reason behind this was known to them — Marfan syndrome, an unwelcome guest in Sanjeevani’s genetic makeup.

Amidst their struggle with Marfan syndrome, embryo biopsy emerged as a beacon of hope, enabling the couple to carefully select a healthy embryo for transfer, ultimately leading to the fulfillment of their parenthood dream.

“We were aware that natural conception might jeopardize the well-being of our newborn baby. Hence, we opted for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at SaiShree Hospital a few days ago,” said Sanjeevani.

In the scientifically designed IVF treatment at SaiShree Hospital, embryo biopsy stood out as a crucial step in the journey toward parenthood.

“Since Sanjeevani’s case was a lot more complex, we have to add one more step of embryo biopsy. Among the ten embryos that were created, numbers 7 and 8 stood out as they did not carry the genes of Marfan syndrome, unlike the rest. This careful selection process through embryo biopsy laid the foundation for the couple’s journey towards parenthood, promising a future free from the genetic constraints that once shadowed their dreams,” said Dr. Girish Pote, SaiShree Hospital’s eminent IVF expert.
